Heong Kian Kee or familiarly known as KK, is the Founder and Director of Care 4 Kalimantan campaign, a social movement that aims to spread the awareness of the haze issue which occurred in Kalimantan and raising fund in items or cash to aid the affected communities. To date, Care 4 Kalimantan has received sponsorship of 2400 pieces of N95 masks and 720 pieces of adult goggles from 3M Malaysia and donations from public and individuals namely Rotary Club of Sungai Petani from Rotary International District 3300, Malaysia. At the age of 14, KK actively involves in various environmental programmes and one significant experience to him is representing Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) in an environmental broadcasting programme; Voyage to the Future 2007, organized by Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) to understand ‘desertification’, the critical situation which happens in Mongolia together with students from other Asia Pacific countries. He is also a Social Media Manager and active member of Rotaract Club of Bangsar, Rotary International District 3300, Malaysia that worked on projects such as river cleaning, feeding homeless people in KL and looking after a home of orphanage kids which aligns with professional development, community service and international service avenue. KK is also a partner of YouthsToday.com, a largest platform which connects over 40 corporate brands and 50 universities and colleges with youth across Malaysia. YouthsToday.com aims to fund, educate and support students and young professionals by turning their ideas into successful projects and fun events. He works as an International Relations Manager and Project Manager in the past projects such as The Asia Youth Awards 2015, managing corporate brand and liaise with students to fund their events in university.
Emma Watson once said, “I’m inviting you to step forward, to be seen, & to ask yourself…If not me, who? If not now, when?” KK hopes that through this camp, youths are inspired to be brave and take action, always look forward by fostering collaborations albeit with LCF, ASEAN community or any other organizations to form a platform of like-minded society and be the change you want to see as global citizens to combat climate change. Climate change is a tricky issue and it could not only be solved alone as a country or ASEAN but it takes the world to come together and commit in making changes happen.
KK is currently pursuing his degree in Communication majoring Public Relations from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Perak campus.
